The Provincial Emergency Program or PEP is a division of the BC Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. PEP is one component of the emergency response system in the Province of British Columbia. Almost all emergencies require multiagency responses, employing resources at the local, provincial and possibly the national level, depending on the severity of the incident.
The Provincial Emergency Program works with local governments and provincial ministries and agencies to ensure effective strategies are activated at a moment's notice to respond to many types of emergencies and disasters. The plans require cooperation among multiple organizations to address issues such as: public health and safety; the integrity of infrastructure; the protection of property and the environment; and, post disaster management and recovery.
