The Westside Residential Waste Disposal and Recycling Centre (formerly the Westside Landfill) is owned and operated by the Regional District of Central Okanagan. The District of West Kelowna is a funding partner in the service, enabling households in the municipality to use the transfer station. Other local governments on the west side of Okanagan Lake are also funding partners in the service.
The transfer station is located on Asquith Road, between the Shannon Lake and Smith Creek neighbourhoods.

All other materials that were accepted at the site of the former landfill, will also be accepted at the centre on Asquith Road in West Kelowna. For more information please call the information line at 250-768-7110.
The centre offers residents the opportunity to drop off extra household materials that they can’t place in their curbside containers. Recyclable materials and unwanted items for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Reuse-it program may continue to be dropped off at the location during the same hours, seven days a week.
The facility will continue to act as a convenient drop off disposal location for residents of West Kelowna, Peachland, Central Okanagan West and Westbank First Nation.
Landfill Closure Background
With the Westside Landfill reaching full capacity, garbage could no longer be buried on site. This meant materials left at the new disposal and recycling centre on Asquith Road would need to be transported to the City of Kelowna Glenmore Landfill for processing.
The Glenmore Landfill is now the only active landfill remaining in the Central Okanagan.
The Regional District of Central Okanagan’s consultant is completing a Final Closure Plan for the Westside Landfill. It will outline ongoing environmental monitoring and responsibilities for the next 25 years. It will also detail capping, site topography, drainage and landscaping. Once received, the plan will be presented to the Regional Board for consideration and then will be submitted to the Ministry of Environment for approval.
