Canadian Tire Jump Start Program

The Canadian Tire Jump Start program provides financially disadvantaged children in Canada with the opportunity to participate in sport and recreational activities.  

Criterion to apply for the Jump Start program includes:

  • To be eligible, children must be between the ages of 4 and 18
  • Funding can cover registration fees, equipment costs or transportation costs
  • Sport or recreational activity must include physical activity
  • Funding is for sustained activities of at least 5 weeks or 5 consecutive days
  • Maximum of one activity per child, per allocation period 
  • Funding goes to individuals, not to teams
  • Up to $200 per child can be issued per allocation period

Applications for Kid Sport funding will be available September 2010.

KidSport™ believes that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport™ provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport. Kid Sport grants range from $75 to $300 to help cover the cost of registration fees for a sport season.

Criterion to apply for Kid Sport funding includes:

  • Children ages 6 to 18 years are eligible for a grant
  • Grants of a maximum of $300 for the payment of sport participation/registration fees
  • Camps, equipment, travel to playoffs, fundraising, championships, etc. are not eligible expenses
  • Only one application per calendar year, for one eligible sport, may be submitted
  • Sport activities must be affiliated with the member sport organizations of Sport BC
  • Preference is given to athletes who are being introduced to organized sport

Everybody Gets To Play Okanagan is a joint venture, bringing together municipalities, recreation and social service organiziaions, to provide open access to recreation and activities for low income families and individuals. Providing recreation without borders is our guiding principle.
