The District of West Kelowna is in the process of developing a Master Transportation Plan.
District staff has been working with Council, the community, stakeholders and consultants from Urban Systems and Boulevard Transportation to create a vision for West Kelowna’s transportation system as it relates to all travel modes, including walking, cycling, driving and transit.
An update on the DRAFT plan was presented to Council at the October 4, 2012 meeting. To view the presentation, please click here.
The Plan will establish a guide for management and improvements to this system for the next 20 years.
ROAD CLASSIFICATIONS
At the August 23, 2011 meeting, Council adopted Road Network Classifications for the District of West Kelowna, which . Road Network Classifications will form part of the Transportation Master Plan. To view the report to Council, please click here. Road classifications are generally categorizes as follows:

Arterial

Efficiently accommodate relatively high traffic volumes

Provide continuous routes through and across neighbourhoods

Limited/no direct access to adjacent properties

Generally no on-street parking

Collector

Efficiently accommodate traffic from/between local neighbourhoods and business areas

Provide connections/access to arterial roads

LImited dire ct access to adjacent properties

Limited/managed on-street parking
