As a lakeside community nestled amongst rolling hills and large pockets of farmland, offering recreational and cultural amenities and modernized infrastructure, West Kelowna is an attractive place for development, and the appetite for future construction remains strong.
Development proposals that are presented to the municipality typically include public consultation. Careful planning is integral to the process, thereby ensuring projects complement existing neighbourhoods and respect the natural environment.
IN QUEUE
Staff is managing numerous Current Applications, ranging from single family and multifamily proposals to Study Areas and Comprehensive Development Plans, such as those listed in the Quick Links on this page.
Our professional staff reviews each application carefully, paying attention to details, in compliance with rules and guidelines established in the Province of British Columbia's Local Government Act:
-
Part 26 deals with Planning and Land Use Management guidelines;
-
Part 27 pertains to Heritage Conservation.
Staff works diligently, and in a timely fashion, with applicants to determine the need for any public consultation prior to the creation of bylaws, and then works to take the application before Council and the Advisory Planning Commission, in a timely manner.
Staff would like to thank applicants for their patience as their applications are processed.
